olivia rodrigo's sweet
Bri Lucero and I were talking about how Olivia Rodrigo should name her next album SWEET since her first album was SOUR. We imagined a whole aesthetic for the project and a tone of the songs and messaging. Instead of waiting for Olivia to create it, we decided to take the reigns on this one and give it a go ourselves.
lovely
I’ve been wearing lace and opening windows
For the breeze to drift in and blow out my sorrows
It feels like I’ve finally righted my wrong,
The last time I thought of you was writing this song.
The good times I’ll hold, but not very tightly
The sun hits my skin as I sing outside - brightly.
I breathe through my nose and hear the birds tweet
This born-again honeybee’s growing so sweet.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something quite lovely has come back to me.
Your memory dirtied the frame, so I broke it
And made the shattered glass a lovely mosaic
To go on the floor of my flowering garden
Which has grown almost as much as my smile.
I wear silk scarves now
and learned to play the flute
Drink water from a champagne glass
Go to the park to eat some fruit.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something quite lovely has come back to me.
I’ll protect my peace and build a world I like
I’ll rewrite my journal and ride my bike.
Who I am now is who I always wanted to be
This is the sound of a woman who is once again free.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something quite lovely has come back to me.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something about this new me is really quite lovely.
Something quite lovely has come back to me.
